Brown Standard Poodle Puppy

This is a picture of our new dog a few months back that I wanted to share. She is quite attractive and intelligent, although she may be a bit of a Diva. She is lying around with her buddy ms. piggy. Such is the life of a poodle. Click to enlarge the pictures.

Marsh in behind Gran Pre

Blomidon from the Marsh behind Gran Pre. This area was one of the deportation sites for the Acadians in 1755. A small park is situated here, with a gorgeous view and park benches to relax on. I would say this would be a great place to have a picnic.
This Majestic Bald Eagle was cruising around the marsh area.

Bought two new sigma lenses for my camera.

I just spent a bit of money on two new sigma lenses because I was getting tired of not being able to capture images to my satisfaction. So I went to the city yesterday and bought a Sigma 10-20 mm wide angle lens and a 120-400 mm Sigma telephoto lens with optical stabilization.

This is a photo using the Sigma 10-20 mm wide angle lens. It was quite bright out so I adjusted the brightness down on my software program.

This picture of a flower was taken in Morden by the beach using the monster telephoto lens. This was fun zooming in to capture the details. Hopefully the learning curve will not be too big to use these well. So far I am happy but then again I am a novice with this camera.

New Motorcycle Front Seat and pillion

If you have ever ridden a BMW adventure motorcycle for any length of time you are no doubt aware that the seats are as hard as rocks. After trying a few less expensive solutions for monkey butt, I finally relented and purchased a Sargent custom seat. The feedback was generally positive from other buyers but you never know right!

Well the day arrived and I have my seat on the bike. Fit and finish is excellent, and I love the black seat on the Grey Pig. Today I went for a three hour drive looking for some nice fall pictures in Nova Scotia, and can safely tell you that the seat is excellent. Riding pleasure has gone up 100% thanks to this one item. I only wish BMW could explain why they won't do anything about their present seat design. Total cost was around $860 shipping and taxes included to Canada from the USA for the Sargent Seat. So if you are planning on an Adventure purchase know that you will need a new seat sooner rather than later.

Windsor pumpkin regatta 2010

Well it is officially over again for another year. The 2010 Windsor pumpkin regatta was held today with a record 64 entries in three classes. Two person, powered and single person classes each launched their pumpkins today. There was a record crowd today as well despite the cold temperatures and howling winds. My favorite pumpkin was the death-star pumpkin in the two man heat. Here are some pictures for you to see of this years event.

The Death Star Pumpkin finished in first place.

The Naval Entry - he bailed the whole way across the lake.

More pictures from Crystal Falls

Here are a few more pictures of the trail going to Crystal Falls near the walking bridge. Click the pictures for a larger view.

Notice the larger rocks that prevented further biking. The falls are less than a kilometer from this spot.

40,000 Nova Scotians out of Work!

According to a spokesperson on the radio there are 40,000 Nova Scotians looking for jobs in this province. The talking head went on to say that something needs to be done to create more jobs in this province. Of course what this person fails to understand is there are jobs out there. According to many business owners I know it is difficult to find a good worker much of the time. The good ones are already working it appears.  Most jobs don't come with an office with a view, private parking, and a secretary until you have shown you are worth the perks and pay.

I want to point out two things - if you cannot find a job create one - by say starting a small business. No one owes you a living so quit making excuses. Second point - I tried to hire students recently for a three day event - how many takers were there? Not enough - because they were busy enjoying the long weekend. It seems that it is easier to ask mom and dad for money then to put in a bit of effort.

The fact is there are jobs out there - try picking apples - the pay is good if you are any good. Of course the 40k unemployed wouldn't think of doing this would they.

Out for a trail walk today and I saw these animal tracks

Not sure which animal track this is but the nails were very large and they looked like they could do a job with them. Luckily I was a few hours behind these tracks (I hope!) For interest sake that is a size 12 boot. A local mentioned something about Coyotes in the area.
