Tidal Bore in Maitland Nova Scotia, near Truro

May 18 I rode the motorcycle up to Maitland, Nova Scotia and caught the tidal bore. It starts slowly and then the first wave appears shown in the first picture.

Here is the old bridge before the wave hits. Notice the bank is fairly dry and the water level on the support is quite low. This is around 3 pm.

This is a picture of the tidal bore in full motion. The water has risen many feet and the current is very fast. This was taken around 3:20 pm.

Check out the water level at around 3:30 pm. Quite a spectacular show from the tide. Here is a video link if this type of natural event is of interest to you.

Annapolis Royal Nova Scotia

Here is another reason to plan a trip to Annapolis Royal - There are sure to be some celebrations on the calendar judging by the work going on downtown sprucing things up. I asked a local merchant for a good place to have a sandwich, and he recommended Leo's. I passed the place twice on my bike before getting better directions. As you can see the sign is very small. The best directions - it is across the street from the bank of Nova Scotia on main street. When you walk in you will find a very old interior with bent rafters above and lots of worn decor. The word would be quaint. I asked the lady inside what she thought was the best sandwich, and she said they were all great. I chose the Mexican wrap - just over $6 - and it was very very good. Of course the lady suggested I try dessert. Also very good. cost $1.35 - talking about a good price. Definitely check this place out for good food and excellent prices. Make sure you enlarge the pictures to see all the good stuff.

Motorcycle Day Trip in Nova Scotia

Here a four pictures of Parker's Cove and Delaps Cove on the Bay of Fundy. This is a very scenic drive to take on a motorcycle. After taking some pictures I made my way to Annapolis Royal for lunch. Select the pictures to see an enlarged version.

Hall's Harbour, Nova Scotia

These fishermen don't appear to have a long commute to work. All day long the boats were loading lobster nets onto the deck before heading out to set them in the water.

The water was quite calm on the Bay of Fundy by Hall's Harbour making for a great day to stroll on the rocks.

Bright colors make it easier to see the buoys and traps in the water. Right before the nets are loaded the fishermen place the bait into the trap. The long ropes are used to lower the traps into the water. It is heavy work but the reward is very good I am sure.

Nictaux, Bridgetown, Nova Scotia

Another beautiful day in the Annapolis Valley. Today's motorcycle trip went through Torbrook Mines to Nictaux on the back roads eventually joining up with the number 1 highway to Bridgetown. After a quick coffee break it was off to the lookoff overlooking the town. Then I proceeded onto Port Lorne, Port George, and then highway 221 to the Berwick turnoff. This was a great half day trip for enduro style motorcycles with many gravel roads to be had. As per normal you can select each picture to see an enlarged version. More pictures to be added at a later date.
