Motorcycle Adventure Book

Well the Christmas season is over and like you I read a lot on my days off. Over the holiday I was able to punch through two similar books; Long Way Round the first book by the authors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, and then the second book Long Way Down. These are books about adventure travel on motorcycles through some off the beaten trail locations around the world.

The second journey (long way down) officially starts in Scotland and heads to the tip of Africa. One thing about me is I am persistent, as the language in both books is how should I put it, not family rated.

The use of Christ's name as a curse word and other expletives seemed out of place, but it doesn't take too long reading the book to realize the two riders whine a lot and little things set off the tirade fairly easily.

If there were redeeming qualities to the books, it would be some of the attention they brought to organizations that are out there in the world trying to help people in need. It is a shame that the riders tone was not better adjusted after these visits to the less fortunate who would never experience a fully funded adventure of this sort.

I believe that a better option to read would be Investment Biker, by Jim Rogers who uses less language and complaining in his book. He had less assistance in his travels compared to the two above it seems and overall I wanted to keep reading his book, vice the other two.

So if you need to know, buy Jim's Book and if you must read the other two be prepared to be offended by the language. 2 stars out of 5 for C and E...
